21st Century Learning requires a differentiated instructional approach, in order to enhance students’ problem solving and critical thinking. Classroom teachers know that these 21st Century skills are essential for maximizing student engagement and learning. The challenge is to present a personalized differentiated learning approach in order to maximize student engagement. As most teachers know, a “one size fits all” engagement process does not work for every learner. The differentiated instructional menu provides teachers with various learning cues, in order to spark students’ interest in the learning.
As an educator, if you want all of your students to synthesize the academic content, there are four differentiated tasks a student can choose for each level of rigor. This process allows students to choose the task(s) which resonates well with them and encourages students to engage with the academic content.
